In the Anglican Diocese of Newcastle; brides will not be asked to “submit” or “obey”. Wedding services can be conducted in any of our parish churches:

Do I need to be an Anglican? No but at least one person must be a baptised person. You will be married according to the Rites and Ceremonies of the Anglican Church and the officiant will be the Rector or Assistant of the Parish.
What do I need? You will need both full birth certificates for both bride and groom. If married you’ve been married before, then a divorce or death certificate. And at least one of you will need to have a baptism certificate.
When you meet the Priest? Together with the Priest you will fill in the Notice of Intended Marriage form, (this must be completed at least 30 days prior to your wedding) discuss the order of service and your family and friends participation as well as practical arrangements such as the rehearsal, photographers and videos etc.
Do we need to prepare? Yes there is an ONLINE marriage preparation course called PREPARE which you will both need to complete. After completing this you will meet with Rector or Assistant to discuss the results. No, it’s not an exam!
Are there fees? You pay a fee of $600.00 for St James Bungwahl and $500.00 for all other centres which includes an organist fee, the priests fee and a donation to the maintenance of the church.
